2018 Release at South Mountains Park

On Wednesday, March 28 West Alexander Middle School released 19 fingerling trout into the Jacob Fork river at South Mountains State Park. Teacher Ryan Rowe managed the program along with help from several students. Sadly the school lost power for several days from the tornadoes last fall and several of the fish died, thus the small number of fish. They were raised from eggs they received last September as part of the Hickory Trout Unlimited chapter Trout in the Classroom program. Cathy Starnes is TIC chairman for Hickory TU and if your school would like to get into the program, you can contact her through hkynctu@gmail.com. We would like to thank the staff and students of West Alexander Middle School for all their hard work.
